from a need for a distinct means of communication to reflect and express the distinct experience of African Americans is at
the philosophical heart of JazzAntiqua.The Community Salon welcomes all for a deepening
of experiences beyond the jazz stage performance. Conversation – sharing stories, exchanging ideas, reflecting on experiences,
bearing witness – is always a vital element, opening doors to understanding, expanded viewpoints and imagining new possibilities.
Participants experience the communal triumph, freedom, self-determination, democracy and joy embedded within the jazz legacy.
